Somerville Cambridge Elder Services (SCES), offers resources, information, advice, and services to seniors, caregivers and disabled people. SCES helps these individuals remain safe and independent by offering assistance in the following areas: Elder Care, Home Care, Aging, Disabilities, Senior Housing, Meals-on-Wheels, and Adult Day Care.
Service Area
While services are primarily offered to older residents of Cambridge, MA and Somerville, MA along with their caregivers, some services are available to younger adults with disabilities, and residents of the Greater Boston area.
Eligibility
The Aging Information Center is a free information and referral service open to the community. Additional information and advice is offered through the Elder Care Advice Program, which is also free. Eligibility requirements vary for the variety of state-subsidized in-home and supportive services offered by SCES for older people, caregivers and adults with disabilities.

Somerville Cambridge Elder Services offers a wide range of service options (listed below) for seniors, caregivers, and younger people living with disabilities.
Our Aging Information Center staff can help identify which services best suit your needs and also offer FREE Information and advice to individuals seeking help with aging, caregiving and disability issues.
Adult Family Care
provides a supportive family environment for people with disabilities who need extra assistance and housing.
Case Management
provides free in-home assessment, care planning, information about resources, and on-going monitoring of services.
Caregiver Support
offers caregivers information about services, provides educational programs and short-term individual or family consultation.
Group Adult Foster Care
provides daily, in-home personal care assistance to older adults and people with disabilities.
Home Care
provides state-subsidized services to eligible older residents of Cambridge and Somerville who need assistance so they may continue to live safely at home.
Long-term Care Ombudsman
provides advocacy for residents of nursing and rest homes in order to improve their quality of life and care.
Memory Disorder Service
provides in-home consultation to families, caregivers, and older adults dealing with the effects of memory problems.
Money Management
matches trained and insured volunteers with older adults who need help writing checks, balancing their checkbooks, budgeting monthly income, and running bank errands.
Nutrition Services
Meals-on-Wheels: delivers meals to older participants' homes. Community Cafés: serve hot lunches in senior centers and elder housing buildings.
Nutrition - Brown Bag Program
provides a brown bag consisting of 10-15 pounds of nutritious groceries once a month.
Personal Care Attendant Program
supports consumers who control the design and delivery of their personal care services.
Protective Services
investigates allegations of abuse, financial exploitation, neglect or self neglect; provides on going casework, and coordinates service plans designed to alleviate risk/abuse.
Respite Services for Caregivers
offer caregivers relief from their caregiving tasks and time to care for themselves.
Take Charge
allows consumers to control the design and delivery of their personal care
