DavisNow.org shuts down

After 8 years of advocacy, DavisNow.org issued the statement over the weekend                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Dear subscribers to DavisNow.org

DavisNow.org is shutting down. After 8 years of advocating for the repair of Davis Square we have concluded that the city is not interested in addressing any of the elements that need attention, or of doing anything with care and quality. Almost everything that was identified in our original “Punch List” (published in 2018 and on the website) remains untouched. Thanks to the disinterest of our elected politicians and city policy makers, the overall deterioration of the square’s public realm and Seven Hills park continues apace.

We would continue on if we had any optimism that advocacy would yield results, but we have no reason to believe that positive outcomes will result (for instance, we will now have cheap concrete sidewalks everywhere with residual brick rumble strips dotted around to remind us of what could have been a cohesive design).

We would like to thank our steering committee and all of those who have participated with DavisNow in the hope that our collective voice would have an impact. While the website will come down on October 2 our email address will be active for a while longer if you wish to contact us.

Thank you for participating.
