The Chamber’s New Group welcomed visitors from 17 countries for a special tour and discussion of economic revitalization at Greentown Labs, Winter Hill Bank & Assembly Row
As part of a three city tour “Global Economic Cooperation and Revitalization” sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program and arranged by WorldBoston, the Chamber’s New Group welcomed visitors from 5 continents. Participants, selected by their country’s respective U.S. Embassy represented: Algeria; Bahrain; Chile; Dominican Republic; Ghana; Guatemala; Jordan; Nigeria; Peru; Russia; Saudi Arabia; Slovakia; Taiwan; Tajikistan; Tunisia; Uzbekistan; and Vietnam.
After visiting Boston and Cambridge sites including the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative and Cambridge Innovation Center, the delegation visited Greentown Labs, Winter Hill Bank & Assembly Row. The wide-ranging discussion covered: the New Group’s role in ‘reframing thinking about Somerville; Mayor Curtatone’s entrepreneurial leadership; the democratization of the revitalization process; the role of developers and an overview of community banking.
